Maryland Taxi Host
A training program to meet PSC requirements for taxicab driver licensing.

A training program designed to help Maryland's taxicab drivers increase their income, create more customer satisfaction and become more familiar with tourist destinations. The program is an adaptation of the Hospitality, Maryland Style program launched in March 2000 for front-line hosts in the hotel, attractions, restaurant, transportation and retail industries. As an important component of Maryland's tourism industry, taxicab drivers are hosts to the state's visitors and guests, as well as their fellow citizens.

One of Baltimore's taxi drivers took the complete 20-hour Hospitality, Maryland Style class in 2000. This is what he says about what he learned:

"After having attended the H.M.S. course, my business has increased by more than 15%. The tour guide portion from repeat customers has dramatically improved by more than 50%."

Joe Matthews, Yellow Transportation

Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the second, third and fourth weeks of the month at 6764 A Reisterstown Road in the Baltimore City Community College facility on the back side of Reisterstown Plaza.

See your Operations office for more details on the schedule and to register.
